Cameron Davies is an Australian-born conductor currently completing his Master’s in Choral Conducting at Yale School of Music.

Cameron began his musical journey as a chorister at Brentwood Cathedral, where his early experiences laid the foundation for a deep commitment to choral music. In 2021, he was appointed Junior Lay Clerk at the Cathedral, a role he held throughout his Undergraduate studies, that allowed him to expand his choral repertoire and explore options in musical direction and leadership, particularly in mentoring younger choristers.
Cameron holds a Bachelors degree in Music from Durham University. In his first year, Cameron was appointed Director of Chapel Music at St Chad’s College, a post he held for two years. He directed the college’s Chapel Choir for weekly services as well as major liturgical events including the Advent Procession and St Chad’s Day at Durham Cathedral. Cameron’s growing experience in choral direction led to his appointment as Associate Conductor of Durham University Choral Society in March 2024, under the mentorship of John Forsyth MBE. In this role, he conducted major works and toured internationally to Budapest and Ljubljana, diversifying his knowledge of repertoire with works of local composers.

Cameron has also had the chance to work with the University’s fast-growing Opera community, leading the Durham Opera Ensemble as Chorusmaster for the recent production “Iolanthe” in March 2024, and Assistant Musical Director for Will Todd’s “Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland”. Under his choral leadership, the ensemble performed to 4 sold-out shows in Durham and won “Best Chorus” as well as “Best Overall Production” at the International Gilbert & Sullivan UniFest competition.
In addition to his work with singers, Cameron has held several singing positions himself, including most recently his choral scholarship at Durham Cathedral as a bass. In this role, he sang eight weekly services, building choral stamina and strong sightreading skills, as well as honing his soloistic skills including in projects with the Avison Ensemble singing early works such as Bach’s Johannes-Passion & Handel’s Messiah.
Cameron’s final and most characterising post whilst at Durham was his work with Durham University Chamber Choir as their Artistic Director. Under his leadership, the choir maintained its position as one of the strongest and most exciting ensembles in the UK, with regular concerts throughout the year, a commissioned work from James Woodhall, and a recording session working with major UK-based professionals.
Outside of Durham, Cameron has worked with National Youth Choir and National Children’s Choir of Great Britain, working with esteemed conductors including Dan Ludford-Thomas, Stuart Overington, Suzzie Vango and Lynsey Callaghan. Alongside youth choirs, Cameron has had the opportunity to work with large-scale choruses, including in the Young Conductors Workshop with the Crouch End Festival Chorus, a world-famous large chorus directed by David Temple MBE, and with Dr Amy Bebbington and the Harlequin Chamber Choir. He has also received individual tuition from Tim Burke.
Now enrolled on the Yale School of Music’s M.M. programme, he is completing a 2 year Master’s qualification in Choral Conducting in the studio of Grete Pedersen and Jeff Douma. He also is the current Assistant Conductor for Battell Chapel Choir, a University church choir in Yale.

Cameron has a passion for Arts Management, specifically including logistical management and marketing. He has a wealth of experience with managing large-scale concerts and social media management, and is currently a member of the Freelance Media Specialist pool for Knight Classical.
During his studies at Durham, Cameron held the position of Publicity & Marketing Manager for Durham University Choral Society — during his time in this role he developed the choir’s reputation in the North East, including doubling their digital following, and bringing in over 2,000 audience members at the choir’s annual events, including over 800 audience members at the choir’s flagship choral event, Verdi’s “Requiem” in January 2026.
Cameron has also held various other management posts including Tour Manager for the Palatinate Orchestra, staging a 6-day trip for 50 ensemble players to Porto, playing in UNESCO Heritage sites for over 500 audience members across the city.
